Story Starting is the first in the series. It will be held twice:
Thursday, March 21, 2013: 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
and
Saturday, March 23, 9:00 a.m. – Noon.

Story Starting

Do you sometimes find yourself staring at the screen when you are supposed to be writing? Is is hard to come up with story ideas? Having a prompt is nice, but that is not always possible. In this 3-hour course, you’ll learn techniques for getting new story ideas whenever you need them. You will generate several story ideas during the course that you can use later. A free copy of the course materials: Mini Lesson in Story Starting is included with your registration.

Who will benefit from taking this hands-on writing workshop? Anyone who has struggled with generating ideas for writing projects or would like to learn some new techniques to find those elusive story ideas.

Workshop Presenter: Janie Sullivan, MBA, MAEd, has been teaching adult learners for over 20 years. She has taught online over 10 years, specializing in writing, communications, and small business applications. She is the co-director of the Center for Teaching Excellence, an online resource for faculty development. Janie also directs the Center for Writing Excellence where she offers writing services, sponsors a writing contest, blogs, and publishes a free electronic newsletter for writers. Both centers are divisions in the Institute for Instructional Excellence, which Janie co-founded in 2009. She has been published in several newspapers and magazines as well as multiple online sites. Workshop Location: The Center for Living and Writing Excellence Classroom at Baseline and Greenfield in Gilbert, Arizona. The actual address and directions will be provided upon registration.
